In a certain part of the world, four families move into the same neighbourhood of a town. The first family had a cultural background of China, second was from India, third was natively from Africa and the fourth was American. They all had kids and having moved to a new town they all said to their kids that why don’t they go out and play, maybe make some new friends.
As the children got out of their houses, they saw other kids and quickly became friends over the fact that they were all new in town. When their parents got to know each other, few of the parents became a little hesitant as for whether their child should play with them or not but they allowed it anyway. The parents who got hesitant became racists without even realising it.
Their children, however, did not have any such thoughts because to them there is no such thing as a different race. The concept of racism is not known to them, they only think of others as humans because they only know of one race and that is the HUMAN RACE.
The concept of racism is criticized worldwide but the people who think before saying anything in fear of saying something racist are racists themselves because if you try to avoid racist talks then you are accepting that racism is real but are afraid of saying it out loud.
All the morals aside, let’s talk scientifically. We all originated from a single cell living at the bottom of the ocean, traces of which can be found in our genes today. We as a species are genetically linked to a fish. How can we be any different from another human? Considering it from such point of view, there is no such thing as a different race among humans. We are a genetic marvel that come in different shape, size and colour that is the fact about humans.
Although, I can talk all day as to how racism is bad and it should vanish. The fact will not change that there are people in this world that treat people differently based on the colour of their skin and the people who suffer most harshly because of it are the people who are black in skin colour. Even if people try to end racism by making anti-racism laws and NGOs to fight against racism, all of the effort will only suppress it until the people of the world accept the fact in their hearts that there is no meaning to racism.
The fact that I wrote this blog is because of the recent riots in the United States of America where a 46-year-old man was killed even when he was unarmed. Many people have came behind to support anti-racism in some ways or the other. The most recent and famous example that pops to my mind is of Michael Jordan who came to light actively speaking about how racism affects society.
Even though racism exists, there has recently been a change in the mindset of our youth. The current youth of the world don’t acknowledge racism to be a real thing making racism a thought of the older generation. I think, that as the world becomes more educated and rational in judging things, then our generation might bring an end to racism because our young generation doesn’t just accept anything that is told to them. Our young generation look at the facts and the consequences of their action and then decides whether a social concept should be accepted or not.
At the end, I would like to conclude that all lives are human lives and they should not be discriminated on any basis.
